Abstract: Adolescence is considered a stage of development, characterized by changes at the psychological, biological, and social levels and determined by the search for sensations and the acquisition of new knowledge. This stage is of special interest, due to an incipient increase in risky behaviors, such as substance use and violent behavior, being reinforced by the frequent use of social networks by adolescents, who use this medium to show attitudes that favor and encourage this type of behavior. The transition from primary to secondary education is a process in which adolescents suffer high levels of stress and anxiety, due to the increased academic burden and the level of demand required of students by the school and parents, which implies the development of academic burnout, reducing the well-being of students in educational centers. Academic burnout is defined as a state of emotional exhaustion with a tendency to depersonalization, which implies a decrease in academic performance generated by the pressure they are subjected to and an academic overload, which leads adolescents to decrease their motivation towards studies, experiencing feelings of failure when not meeting academic expectations and using alcohol as a strategy to cope with exhaustion. Thus, academic burnout is characterized by the presence of three subdimensions, emotional exhaustion, cynicism, and academic ineffectiveness. Therefore, it is essential to know and determine the risk and protection factors associated with these risk behaviors, with the aim of reducing them. Thus, various investigations have studied academic engagement as a protective factor against the incipient increase in academic burnout rates, and as a consequence of alcohol consumption and violent behavior. Academic engagement implies the active participation and absorption of adolescents in their studies, improving the performance and adaptation of adolescents to the academic context. Academic engagement is presented as a state of three-dimensional psychological well-being: vigor, dedication and absorption in learning. For this reason, through this doctoral thesis, it was proposed to achieve three fundamental objectives to enable in-depth knowledge of risk behaviors in adolescents, as well as their relationship with burnout and academic engagement. Due to the importance of social networks in increasing alcohol consumption in adolescents, the first objective set was to analyze communication on social networks in relation to alcohol consumption. For this, a qualitative research was carried out, in which a total of 480 Twitter comments were analyzed. Each of the comments was examined individually, classifying them according to whether the comments made were in favor or against alcohol intake, and in turn the context in which each was made was determined (context of party and fun, sanitary, and vindictive). In addition, they were classified according to the means obtained (Media, users, protest groups, and security forces). After analyzing the results, it was observed how there was a greater number of tweets in favor of alcohol consumption, due to the positive comments that young people showed on social networks, while the number of comments against alcohol consumption and prevention was younger in networks. Moreover, the results obtained show how the number of publications on alcohol consumption increases according to the holidays and festivities, and its intake can increase. Meanwhile, responding to the second objective of this thesis, which was to analyze the relationships between attitudes towards aggression, of parents and adolescents, and empathy, and to identify profiles of direct and indirect involvement in situations of school violence, in the second study, a total of 1287 compulsory secondary education students participated, where parents 'attitudes towards violence, adolescents' beliefs about the use of aggression and global empathy were analyzed. Through the matrix of bivariate correlations and descriptive statistics, the relationship between the variables was explored. For the identification of the profiles of direct or indirect involvement, twostage cluster analysis was used and a MANOVA was performed, to know the existence of differences between the groups in relation to the empathy components. The results showed that higher levels of support for the use of non-violent strategies by adolescents maintain a positive relationship with the perception of strong parental support. Regarding the relationships established with the components of empathy analyzed, both cognitively and emotionally, negative correlations are obtained regarding favorable attitudes towards aggression. In relation to the groups of direct involvement, they indicate that there are significant differences between the groups, in the components of empathy. On the other hand, the multivariate analysis applied to the groups with indirect involvement shows significant differences between the groups in perspective taking. Finally, regarding empathic concern, there are also statistically significant differences between the groups in the group of active spectators. Finally, and responding to the third objective of this thesis, to analyze burnout and engagement in the academic field and its relationship with alcohol consumption in adolescents, the same sample of students was used as in the previous study, where the Burnout and academic engagement and its relationship with the frequency of alcohol consumption and positive attitudes towards transgression. In order to determine the relationship between the variables, a bivariate correlation analysis was applied with the Pearson coefficient. For the evaluation, two models of structural equations took academic burnout and academic engagement as predictors. On the other hand, to evaluate the goodness of fit of the models, the Chi-square ratio, the comparative fit index and the Tucker-Lewis index were used. The results showed the existence of positive correlations between two of the burnout dimensions and the frequency of alcohol consumption. In this same line, it is shown how academic burnout is associated with positive attitudes towards transgression. However, in the case of engagement, the correlations regarding the frequency of alcohol consumption are negative in all three dimensions, and show positive attitudes towards authority. In relation to the structural equation model, it was observed that cynicism indicates having a significant effect on the positive attitude towards transgression and the effect of positive attitude towards transgression on the frequency of consumption. Regarding engagement, a significant direct effect of the dedication factor of engagement on the positive attitude towards institutional authority is shown and the effect of the positive attitude towards transgression on the frequency of consumption is also significant. By way of conclusion, it should be noted that the results obtained suggest the need to continue investigating burnout and academic engagement and certain factors related to both constructs. Where it is proposed the need to propose new studies that establish new relationships with burnout and academic engagement and thus determine whether these factors act as predictors or protectors of them. In this way, the design of intervention strategies would be focused on improving the well-being and quality of life of adolescents in the face of risky behavior.es_ES
