La cefalea tensional (CT) es la enfermedad neurológica más prevalente a nivel mundial. Esta patología se caracteriza por la presencia de puntos gatillos miofasciales (PGM) en la musculatura del cuello, cabeza y parte superior de la espalda, siendo su diagnóstico puramente clínico. En contra del tratamiento habitual de la CT que suele ser el farmacológico, desde la fisioterapia se proponen técnicas (invasivas o no), enfocadas en los PGM. Una de estas técnicas es la punción seca (PS), que en los últimos años se está popularizando en el ámbito de la fisioterapia. El objetivo es evaluar la eficacia de la PS en el tratamiento de la CT. Material y métodos: se ha realizado una revisión bibliográfica en las bases de datos Pubmed, Cochrane Library Plus, Scopus, PEDro, Dialnet, Web of Science, usando los descriptores en español: “cefalea tensional”; “punción seca”; y en inglés “tensión-type headache” and “dry needling”.
