Language is full of sexist expressions.En este trabajo analizamos representaciones de mujeres en las paremias populares árabes, para ello se pretende un doble fin: dar a conocer este tipo de producción popular e intentar reflejar el modo de vida, la forma de pensar y actuar, los roles y estereotipos, las costumbres y las tradiciones de la sociedad árabe. Así, examinaremos cuidadosamente el significado de estos refranes para resaltar las manifestaciones estereotipadas que devalúan el estatus de las mujeres árabes y fortalecen la ideología patriarcal, y procuraremos demostrar como los refranes se vuelven instrumentos de discriminación social y burla, mostrando su ideología violenta hacia las mujeres.
