2019Abstract
Los fenicios abrieron una ruta de navegación al Noroeste de
la Península Ibérica ya en el siglo VIII a.C. desde sus colonias en el Sur
para acceder al comercio del estaño. Dicha ruta llegó inicialmente hasta
el Cabo Arvio mencionado en la Ora Maritima de Avieno e identificable
con el Cabo Mondego. Los datos sobre la duración en días de
las travesías que nos transmite la Ora Maritima coinciden con las estimaciones
teóricas sobre navegación, reforzando su valor como fuente
histórica. Las condiciones meteorológicas eran diferentes a las actuales
entre 3000 y 1000 BP según los estudios que miden el “efecto reservorio
oceánico” en muestras de C14 marinas. Ello hizo posible la navegación
fenicia en dirección Norte con vientos portantes durante la Antigüedad
en una ruta en la que se dispusieron los asentamientos coloniales
en fondeaderos naturales y desembocaduras de ríos protegidas para los
