2020-10Abstract
El colapso ambiental provocado por numerosas actividades antropogénicas ha derivado en la acumulación masiva de residuos en vertederos o en la incineración descontrolada de los mismos. La gestión adecuada de este tipo de residuos pasa, irremediablemente, por la adaptación a un modelo de economía circular, mediante el cual se busca la conservación de los recursos naturales, el mantenimiento de la biodiversidad, el reciclaje y la reutilización de residuos, convirtiéndolos así en productos. Gran parte de estos residuos, a los que se les puede dar una segunda vida útil, se enmarcan dentro del grupo de los residuos biodegradables. Entre las alternativas más exitosas destinadas a la biotransformación de este tipo de residuos, destaca el compostaje por adecuarse a los conceptos actuales de sostenibilidad y bioeconomía, considerándose un proceso respetuoso con el medio ambiente y que no implica elevados costes.
