La influencia del efecto Pigmalión en la autoestima del alumnado se pone de manifiesto día a día en las aulas, donde el profesorado y las familias ejercen un papel fundamental, tanto para ser conscientes de la implicación entre ambas variables, como para implementar metodologías que ayuden a paliar sus efectos negativos y ayuden a alcanzar el éxito escolar. El objetivo del presente trabajo es analizar y considerar los estudios de las últimas décadas sobre efecto Pigmalión y autoestima. Para ello se realizó una revisión sistemática que finalmente incluyó 10 artículos que revelan la importancia de formar expectativas positivas en el alumnado para aumentar su autoestima y dirigirlos a la consecución de grandes logros en el ámbito escolar. Así mismo, se señala la escasez de investigaciones en este campo y la necesidad de plantear nuevos retos de investigación para diseñar y llevar a cabo programas efectivos de intervención psicoeducativa.
