The perception that teachers have of cultural diversity is fundamental when it comes to the educational attention provided to immigrant students. The goal is to determine how teachers perceive students' cultural diversity and families' commitment to their children's education, and whether this perception can influence teachers' expectations of students and their families. This is a qualitative research based on hermeneutic phenomenology developed through semi-structured interviews, applied to an intentional sample of 16 Spanish primary school teachers. The results indicate that teachers need the assistance of specialists in education, training in cultural diversity and intercultural communication skills. They also recognize the importance of improving collaboration with immigrant families.
