Introducción: La nutrición parenteral consiste en la administración de los nutrientes
necesarios para suplir las necesidades metabólicas y de crecimiento a través del sistema
circulatorio, pudiendo administrarse a través de una vía central o periférica. Sin embargo,
cada una de ellas conlleva una serie de riesgos para el neonato que merecen la pena
explorar para garantizar la seguridad clínica del paciente.
Objetivo: Sintetizar la literatura disponible sobre la seguridad de las diferentes vías
venosas en la administración de la nutrición parenteral en neonatos.
Metodología: Revisión bibliográfica llevada a cabo entre los meses de diciembre de 2021
a mayo de 2022. La búsqueda se realizó en las fuentes de información PubMed, Web of
Science, CINAHL y Dialnet.
Resultados: Las complicaciones más frecuentes del catéter venoso central son la
infección relacionada con el catéter o sepsis y oclusión de la vía, mientras que las
complicaciones en el catéter venoso periférico son infil...
