La atrofia muscular espinal en el discurso periodístico español. Una doble mirada

Abstract

Este Trabajo Fin de Máster tiene como objetivo el estudio de la Esclerosis Múltiple desde un punto de vista comunicativo. Ofrecemos, inicialmente, una contextualización de la enfermedad, explicando su sintomatología, su tipología, su abordaje terapéutico y algunas de las circunstancias sociales y personales asociadas a ella. En la parte principal del trabajo, más centrada en los aspectos discursivos y comunicativos, realizaremos análisis a partir de ámbitos diferentes desde el punto de vista de las muestras utilizadas. Por una parte, a partir del corpus de noticias elaborado gracias a la información proporcionada por la herramienta de búsqueda MyNews, revisaremos la presencia de esta enfermedad en los diarios más leídos durante los dos últimos años. Sistematizaremos visualmente los resultados y, luego, interpretaremos los datos. Por otra parte, hemos entrevistado a tres testigos relevantes para el estudio de la enfermedad: dos personas afectadas por ella y un especialista médico (neurólogo) interesado tanto en su clínica como en la investigación. Estas entrevistas nos ayudan a contrastar la información obtenida en la primera parte y también nos abre nuevas vías para entender mejor cómo se comunica sobre la enfermedad según sea el grado de vinculación con ella. This Master's thesis aims to study Multiple Sclerosis from a communicative point of view. We offer, initially, a contextualization of the disease, explaining its symptoms, its typology, its therapeutic approach and some of the social and personal circumstances associated with it. In the main part of the work, more focused on the discursive and communicative aspects, we will carry out analyzes from different areas from the point of view of the samples used. On the one hand, based on the corpus of news produced thanks to the information provided by the MyNews search tool, we will review the presence of this disease in the most widely read newspapers over the last two years. We will visually systematize the results and then interpret the data. On the other hand, we have interviewed three relevant witnesses for the study of the disease: two people affected by it and a medical specialist (neurologist) interested in both its clinical and research. These interviews help us to contrast the information obtained in the first part and also open up new ways for us to better understand how people communicate about the disease depending on the degree of connection with it.
