This paper assesses the methods of obtaining IDF curves
for the country of Mexico: Wencel modified, Chen, Chen
modified, Témez and Témez modified. The data came
from a total of 63 automatic weather stations distributed
throughout the country, recording data every 10 minutes
and completed a minimum of 7 years. For analysis, coastal
stations have differentiated when they are 50 or so km
from the coast, and the other as indland. In this work we
have calculated for all stations, all parameters of the IDF
methods mentioned, for durations between 10 minutes to
24 hours and for a return period between 2 to 500 years.
Where available disaggregated precipitation data every 10
minutes or less, we recommend using modified Wencel´s
method. Where it is available hourly rainfall data, then it is recommended the use the Chen`s method. And when exist only availability of daily rainfall data, for durations less than 2 h is recommended Témez modified method. For durations longer than 2 h, C...
