El incremento de la población mayor de 65 años en España es una realidad. Por ende, las enfermedades asociadas al envejecimiento, como las relacionadas con el sistema cardiovascular, la sarcopenia o la fragilidad, aumentan en la misma línea. Las administraciones
públicas, en un intento tanto por prevenir como por tratar estas enfermedades, están subvencionando programas de ejercicio físico destinados a mejorar la condición física de estas personas. La condición física está íntimamente relacionada con la disminución del riesgo de enfermedades cardiovasculares, el aumento de la calidad de vida y una mayor autonomía para el desenvolvimiento de las actividades de la vida cotidiana.
