Los cuidados centrados en la familia constituyen un modelo de atención al recién nacido prematuro que considera a la familia como una unidad más del cuidado. El objetivo de este trabajo es evaluar la efectividad de los cuidados centrados en la familia en la
prevención de secuelas neurológicas en recién nacidos prematuros. Se ha realizado una revisión bibliográfica narrativa en las siguientes bases de datos: Pubmed, Allied Health Literature (Cinahl), Cochrane y Cuiden entre los meses de diciembre 2020 y febrero 2021. Se han incluido un total de 16 artículos. Se ha incluido una muestra de 1.174 prematuros con una edad gestacional entre las 25 y 37 semanas, con una media de 31 semanas de gestación, en los que se ha evaluado como influyen los cuidados centrados en la familia en su desarrollo motor y cognitivo. Se ha llegado a la conclusión de que los cuidados centrados en la familia mejoran la calidad de vida del RNP ya que disminuyen el riesgo de padecer secuelas neurológicas y motoras.
