2021Abstract
La epidermis de los organismos vivos supone la barrera primaria frente al exterior, y, por tanto, desempeña una función esencial no solo en la protección frente a otros organismos y moléculas, sino también en la regulación de las interacciones fisicoquímicas del ser vivo con el mundo que lo rodea. En plantas, la epidermis se encuentra asociada a una barrera de tipo céreo llamada cutícula. El correcto desarrollo de la epidermis y de la cutícula constituye un proceso biológico complejo de especial relevancia pues de él depende el crecimiento de los distintos órganos vegetales, así como caracteres de interés agronómico como son la protección frente a factores externos y patógenos. Se desconocen en gran medida los genes que regulan el desarrollo de la epidermis, y más aún los mecanismos genéticos y moleculares implicados en dicho proceso.
