2021Abstract
Las microalgas son microorganismos unicelulares eucariotas con capacidad para realizar la fotosíntesis. Al poseer una tasa de crecimiento más elevada que las plantas superiores, generan biomasa más rápidamente. Esta biomasa está constituida por productos de alto valor añadido que van desde pigmentos carotenoides a sustancias con alto contenido proteico. Para poder llevar un cultivo de
microalgas a gran escala y obtener así una producción masiva de estos productos de interés y alto valor económico se deben realizar ensayos previos a pequeña escala, en condiciones de laboratorio. De esta manera, se obtiene información que hace posible optimizar factores clave para el cultivo masivo de microalgas como pH, temperatura, intensidad de luz, concentración adecuada de nutrientes, etc. La forma más útil de presentar la caracterización cinética de una microalga son los modelos de crecimiento y de fotosíntesis en cultivos de microalgas.
