2011Abstract
The aim of this paper is to offer a brief introduction to the life and literary works of Saint Teresa de Ávila, who was one of the most important mystic writers of all times. At the beginning we present the life and cultural development of the 16th century Spain. Then we mention the characteristics of mystic writing, and go further with the description of Teresa’s most important literary works, which are a profile of her doctrine. We also show the influence of catholic oratory over the saint’s style. Finally, we give some examples of aphorisms which appear in her writings.
